AMD still isn't ready to talk around FidelityFX Super Resolution
AMD has right announced a new version of its Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition, 21.4.1, and with it a heap of brand-new features, so much as AMD Link for PC and Ryzen CPU monitoring. However, one notable omission from today's release is FidelityFX Super Result, and according to AMD there's not much more information technology wishes to say on the subject just yet.
With Nvidia DLSS proving a right performance boon for totally GeForce card game in supported games, it's no surprisal that Radeon fans are itching for a red team alternative. That volition descend in FidelityFX Tiptop Resolution, and then says AMD, a new, vulnerable source feature forthcoming to a game unreal you… sometime in 2021.
The last we heard of the feature was Scott Herkelman's chat to PC World last month, where the AMD exec confirmed information technology would not require machine learning to work. He does, however, suppose that it still needs to a greater extent clock time in the oven.
The Radeon software package team doesn't have much Thomas More to minimal brain dysfunction to that at this time. When asked about the boast's arrival during a pre-briefing on the new Radeon Software package last workweek, AMD senior ware manager, Adrian Castelo, told us "when the metre's right, and the time's appropriate" then we'll hear more about the feature and its release.
Furthermore, Castelo explains that development is quiet on-going for an upscaling feature, and that it targets a broad mountain range of games.
At to the lowest degree it's comforting to know that FidelityFX Super Resolution hasn't been transcribed. But how could it? Nvidia is indiscriminate carrying into action in DLSS compatible games, and in games as demanding every bit say, Cyberpunk 2077, it provides the extra oomph necessary for when the GPU silicon can't muster up enough.
An meaningful feature for AMD to get down just right, to be sure. It may get on to something with its open approach at the very least. A unilateral standard could help make headway AMD some initial favour where Nvidia's proprietorship feature falters.
For the moment, Radeon GPU owners can apply FidelityFX Contrast Reconciling Sharpening (CAS), which offers a manner to clean up an image rendered at depress than native resolution.
